They are all death-dealing, lane hogging lemming transporters as far as I am concerned. I can't even count the number of times bus' of all description have infringed on my lane while I was on two wheels or four.

That's the one I rode to school. I didn't realize I rode the little bus until after I was married.

Ahh, busses.... remember this one?
And also loved these...
But of course, no discussion should be complete without discussing trolleys - the semi-busses - and my memories are full of PTC trolleys....
.... and we can't forget the places the buses came from - those art-deco terminal buildings that are nearly all gone now...
I must admit that I liked this bus though...

Oh.. almost forgot the most stylish one of all...
The GM Futureliner.
Don't you really wish they actually made stuff like this now?

Spin four bolts and you had the engine out. That was one sweet motor home but bugs made a better traveling office. I owned 4 of them, all pre-'68, and I'd still give my left nut for one.

Both of my first cars were Beetles: a '74 Super Beetle and a bright, candy apple red '61. Beautiful car, that. I sold her to a collector in Vermont.

One of my high school girlfriends had an early-60s Beetle. Her dad found it for her because the car was so basic, easy to maintain and dependable. So low-maintenance, even a bubbleheaded teenage girl couldn't screw it up.
[edit] Oops, sorry; I'm running on about cars, and this is the BUS thread.
Please carry on.

I had one of these, same color and everything. The solenoid had a problem, and to start it my girl friend would slide underneath and tap on it with a screw driver handle while I turned the key. The engines were good for about 100,000 miles and little more. At about 110,000, mine threw a rod right through the light-weight aluminum block, totally ruining it. Replacing the engine was a snap.

One of those things caught fire in front of me at a stop light about a month ago. Luckily, it was literally in front of a fire house--the driver just cocked the wheels to the right, and let it roll the three feet into the driveway.

Not a splittie, but a breadloaf. I still drive my 1971 Deluxe daily, I have had it since I was one year old. We have been to 4 continents together.

The last 6 months of '67 was the VW golden age for bug and microbus alike. Still, there were issues. The accelerator cable was ridiculous and often froze, the fuel line was prone to vapor lock and that fucking solenoid... Throwing a rod was heartbreaking. I still blame my brother.

The Grey Rabbit. Berkeley to NYC, via LA and Chicago, in three days for $50. The seats were replaced with foam padding and alcohol was strictly prohibited. Weed was encouraged. Thems were the daze. Yeah, I took this shot.
