I've smacked a few deer in my life and the part of it I never forget is that sick crunch sound they make.....

There are cooler alternatives to deer whistles...  They're known as grill guards...  http://www.ranchhand.com/GrilleGuards.aspx

And I'm selling a winch on eBay right now that you can use to drag the lil' critter onto the bed of Dirck's truck with the deerplow.

Naw, replace the whole bumper:

A ranchhand is fine for a deer, one of these will take on a cow.  The reason I bought one, twelve years ago, is because my Dad hit a cow with his.  No damage at all to the truck, the cow died.  He bought it because a deer did five grand worth of damage to the front of his truck.  You need to call a couple of buddies to come hold it in place while you slap the bolts in.  Bruton Easy Pull Trailers makes these seriously heavy and extremely well.  If you want I'll go take some pictures manana so you can see it on a truck, that's the pic from their site.

That thing brings back memories of my highschool FFA class when the first thing all us boys would weld together was either grill guard or a headache rack for our pickups....

Man, FFA. I was one of the FFA geeks; I was on the agronomy team.

With the rear wheels in the air the truck would never move again.
