You don't want to know.

And you didn't ask.

And I didn't respond to what you didn't ask.

Maybe you better stay off the Internet for a little while.

Sweet.  A few years back, I saw in the Aero Trader that the Polish AF was selling off all of its remaining MiG-17s, including two-seat UTI trainers, as kits for $35K.  An additional $35K got you the afterburning engine, too.  Apparently, the Google dudes don't know any A&P guys...

And, yes, even then, that was cheaper than a used Cessna 152.

There were a number of MiGs in the hands of silicon valley executives. I used to see them flying over the bay from time to time. It was definately a WTF is that moment when they went over. I got used to parking at San Jose's General Aviation lot and would sometimes sse them on the tarmac. Though I think most of them are managed and kept by services in Nevada.

Flying a Alpha Jet or Mig-17 into modern confrontation is as effective as trying to stiff arm a freight train.

However if I were searching for a joy ride I'd take the A-6 just because you can hold hands with your girly while you barnstorm.

All the Alpha jet proposals were to be powered by twin SNECMA Turbomeca Larzac turbofans. The Luftwaffe had insisted that the trainer have two engines after suffering severe attrition from accidents with their single-engine Lockheed F-104 Starfighter.

Amazing how that little disgraceful F104 episode of interaction between American corporation and our government influenced so much.

Now that I've let the speculation build, I saw earlier today an article that said something about a joint project with NASA and putting a bunch of instruments in the jet.   Then again, if you were Eric Schmidt and you had the money, can you honestly say you wouldn't buy a fighter jet?
