Carpenter's adaptation isn't half bad; I'd never seen it before. Hulu sucks rocks, though.

They Live is good for entirely different reasons than The Thing.

They Live is campy, funny, and full of entertaining social commentary.  The Thing will scare your pants off and has some of the best monster effects you'll ever see in your life.

I bought my copy of "The Best of John W Campbell" used, for 50 cents, less than a mile from your home, Forti. The library on Pine Street had 5 copies, last time I checked.
