Capt. msg tripps will chew me out for this but....
I don't think it's crazy for ANY country to feel threatened and feel the need to pre empt the crazy US military warlord G.W. Bush. If I was a ruler of anywhere, I would keep one eye on this country always.
That is saying nothing nasty about the brave men and women serving our country.

The Soviet Union was the last of the great land empires to break up and Russia still hasn’t come to terms with the loss of its former empire. Bigcat is right that other countries need to keep an eye on the US; our reasons for arming Russia’s former colonies are not totally altruistic or for the publicly stated reasons. At some point Russia will get over the idea of recovering its physical empire and decide to commit to the American model of empire, namely domination of the economies, and intimidation of the governments of our vassal states such as Canada.
