I dressed mine to look like a little fish, choked on sulfuric acid in a contaminated stream.

Oh c'mon now....  Coal is an awesome source of energy, it's easily attainable, cheap, easily transported and comes pre-stored in its own package until it's ready to be used!!!  Coal isn't perfect, but neither is any other source of energy for that matter....  Quit demonizing coal until a viable alternative energy appears...  It's easy to say "Solar!!" or "Wind!!", but look at the incredibly high costs of using them when compared to the over-all energy output....  Coal deposits will start to give out soon enough and by the time that happens an alternative source of energy will have been developed to the point of being economically viable...  Having coal dissapear is a nice dream, but swapping coal for another energy source at this time is the same thing as replacing commercial farming with organic farming....  It feels good, but it isn't a realistic dream....

1) It's not demonizing coal to point out that the coal industry is lying to our faces when they keep saying "clean coal" when there is no such thing.  Coal is cheap, but it's filthy, and the only viable technology for "cleaning" it up is to hide the pollution underground, and it still hasn't been done.

2) You're making the classic mistake of not considering environmental costs to be costs.  We may not be spending money on it, but we're all paying for it.
