The first rule of sidepics is you do not talk about sidepics -- um, I mean, they must be 200 pixels wide.  No more, no less.

The second rule of sidepics is they must be in JPG, PNG, or GIF formats.

I don't think anyone besides choad and myself has stepped forward to get login accounts on the server, so at this point you'll have to post your images and hope one of us is amused enough upload them.

And I have no idea what to do with this image... but I place it here for those who wish to enjoy it, as I did, whilst mildly impaired....

Hey, you guys are way better at thinking up banners than I am.... I'm happy just supplying bizarre or inane images.... you've used lots of them so far, so hopefully they've been of some help.

I'd suggest posting fodder to the picture thread to avoid cluttering up this one.  Don't know about anyone else, but I occasionally look through there for material.

Hmm.. well, that's really a NSFW thread, so I hate to clutter it up with SFW crap.  We probably do need a SFW/Banner/Sidebar/Fodder sticky thread if you don't want it here.

I just don't see why the banner thread is also for sidepics. An opinion. Would someone like to create a sidepic thread so there is a separate place to examine offerings and resize them as necessary? Such efforts aren't required here.

Not entirely happy with either of these; feedback or tagline suggestions welcome.




And as far as I'm concerned, the picture thread is not NSFW-mandatory.  Don't know why others would have that impression.

Saw it, but don't think it would show up very well in a smaller image.  Same deal with the superhero's erection.  Subtle just doesn't seem to work well in miniature.

You're right, it doesn't. Everything I post there gets tweaked.

Many of the first sidepics were iconographic images I obsessively restored from damaged, faded and poorly scanned originals. The stress here is on ICON. The larger the original the better, or color, detail and appeal get lost.

Never had this much fun as a kid.

The archive now totals 1167. Number one was this little guy.

I've said this before: My coding chops marched south to the sea many dead languages ago or the scheme I would write for it would look roughly like this:

Separate header and sidepic archives cataloged by content, uploader, date, and selection numbers, rather than displays.

Member profile selection of random header and sidepic images.

Vistor pool of random images culled from top member selections.

I like the "Zombie's SFW Picture Thread!" idea.

Things I like now about the sidepics:

1. Random selection makes it likely something I'd never choose myself pops up


2. Everyone gets the same ones for a given ten-minute window.

Perhaps for registered members two sidepics could be from the user's chosen pool, and the third a random choice.

Right now the sidepic selection is entirely separate from the board's PHP code, so would require a decent bit of work to integrate into the rest of things.

For most folks, I'm sure there probably isn't but I routinely bounce all over the dimly lit parts of the site checking to see what's what. Regulars rarely venture beyond the main message area. New visitors often loiter no farther than the front page.
