It is if you're stupid enough to use a .45. Small arm most responsible for friendly fire deaths for three wars. You're more likely to do damage to someone by beating them with the magazine than you might achieve by attempting to shoot someone. The round itself is designed-in inaccurate. It needs all that power in the hope the shock wave of the bullet will knock the attacker off their feet when you aim center mass. They didn't retire that fucker because it was good.

Are you lost?? I have a rifle - if it comes time to use a pistol it better knock the shit out of you but good. I only need it for 10 yds in and it better be reliable. Give me the 1911.

My 1911 is every bit as accurate as the Sig or the Beretta. It will be my conspicuously visible sidearm for the the post-apocalypse, sitting pretty in my Mexican quick-release holster. And I covet a version from Para-Ordnance or Kimber.
This weapon was not in service for 75 years because it sucked. SWAT teams still use it. Although truth be told I prefer the Italian gat.
