Just the type of monument that would have been allowed if Saddam was in power and a shoe was thrown at him.

I guess this would be a moot point if Saddam hadn't played such a key role in the attack on the World Trade Center and been hiding all those weapons of mass destruction, eh?

According to intelligence that wasn’t believed by anyone outside the previous administration, the weapons of mass destruction were placed in storage in Iran. That’s why they were next on the list to be invaded.

Uh-huh, 'cause Iraq and Iran have always had such a friendly and mutually beneficial relationship.
It is typical of footinass that he'd consider freedom of expression some kind of gift that America bestowed upon the dirty brown heathens--one that they're not supposed to use.
And with that said, remember that the man who expressed himself in the first place is still in prison.

Up-Date:
"We will not allow anyone to use the government facilities and buildings for political motives," said Abdullah Jabara, Salaheddin deputy governor.

I think there is a huge difference between "freedom of expression" and assault.
Try throwing two shoes at your local police officer, then claim you are just "expressing yourself", and let me know how that works out.

If the policeman in question was responsible for the deaths of thousands upon thousands of innocents, I'd throw it too.

Ah, but this is where you're misguided Toe. Bush brought democracy to Iraq, so everyone should be grateful.
