Such a pity that she has "comments closed." I would like to wish her well and express my fondness for her successful cult deprogramming.

She certainly makes a big deal out of it.

It's pretty safe saying that kind of stuff in Salt Lake City these days, it's actually a far more progressive city than many Southern Cities or even cities with a high Hispanic population (fuckin' Catholics). I can't say that about any other city in Utah though, Mormon fundamentalism is alive and well in them still....

What the hell, I'm a recovered Mormon, and a recovered Catholic, also a recovered Methodist.
Let's just say that while I stopped going to church with my twit of a mother around the age 16 I am greatful to her for making me the cynic I am before the Born Again Cult hit full swing. My Ex was thoroughly born again baptist - makes the mormons look mainstream.
(Just for fun: Melons is a recovered Jehovah's Witness AND Muslim; she goes for the meditation thing now)

(OOC)
I tried the Christianity thing for a couple years during middle-high school, due entirely to peer pressure. Prior to that, I was an atheist due to lack of religious programming by my parents (both Christians, not church-going). I started trying to believe in Jesus to fit in and avoid bullying. Then, one day, I sat down and started reading the Bible. Long before I was finished with it, I was happily atheist once again. Well, actually I was pretty bitter about the whole thing, but that's a common phase for the born again atheist. These days I believe in the Mechanical Elves. Or not.
