Well it turns out not necessarily, just the first confirmed victim.  There was an outbreak of a particularly nasty flu, and several people were ill, but only his initial tests were preserved for some reason, so he was the only one who could be matched up to the current strain.

Another one of the initial victims was a census taker who was going door to door while sick.  It's like the perfect home illness delivery service.

(from the wonderful xkcd)

I was all set to call bullshit on that because of the third entry which is a character from another webcomic called Questionable Content(the guy has created and maintains Twitter accounts for all his characters) then saw your notice at the bottom, GO.  The tweets are fake but hilarious nonetheless.

It is a wondrous phenomena.  How could a political party think that it can appeal to the other 80% of the population with a constant stream of nutjob blather like this or Rush?

Even if he was a snide, effete  bastard, at least he could think on his feet.. what would he make of this response?

Republican Party = Reprehensible band of roving, cantankerous weeping cunt-sores adorned by flaky skin and red, oozing hair follicles.

Michael Steele = A "token" blackhead-style pimple sitting atop one of the most festering of those cunt-sores, the kind that spurt and hit the mirror when you pop it.

Hyuck.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.  I'm beginning to think this whole bogus flu story is an unholy conspiracy between Muslims around the world who want to kill pigs and Obama bin Biden here in the US who want to divert the public's attention from the fact that they are nationalizing the banks, insurance companies, and auto industry while spending us into a shithole from which we will never emerge.

I'm not saying the flu was concocted by a conspiracy.  I'm saying various factions, including our own ruling junta is using, and feeding, the news as cover.

Come to think of it, the Jews don't eat pork either. But Muslims all over the world are killing pigs. Here is another story about it.  Hello PETA, where is the outcry?

You Google "makers of Tamiflu" and you get several sources (forums mostly, by the looks of it) that insist the companies expect a 531% increase in the number of sales. That number had to come from somewhere to be spread around so quickly.

Sales of Tamiflu have been through the roof anyway as governments have been building up stockpiles world wide.  For example, I read that Virginia already has on hand a five day course for 50% of its population.  That is not to say I have any idea whether this is a conspiracy.  If I were in Mexico, I probably would not.  My guess is that the science is not quite good enough to be sure until the course of events has already gotten underway.  My impression has not been that the administration is driving this story at all.  Biden wandered off the reservation in one interview, but other than that the feds have been fairly circumspect, particularly when compared to the WHO and a number of other countries.

Well, my kids are home all next week.  Our school district announced today they were shutting everyone down (we're in the Dallas area).  Idiots.

The good news is that pork products just got real cheap.  We loaded up on pork chops, ham, sausage, etc. today.

Why would you miss him Dusty?  He was an articulate closet case for whom being a conservative was a career choice.  Who knows what his private views really were.

He could string three sentences together, make an argument (whether I agreed or not, usually not) and he was incredibly pretentious which made him a perfect foil for Gore Vidal when they were rolling around on the floor at the Chicago Dem convention having a rather girlish punch out.

When Buckley kicked it George Will became the "intellectual" mouthpiece of the political right--which is reason enough to wish he hadn't died.

Buckley was a Mick catholic commoner who hid his insecurity behind an affected Thurston Howell III accent and tedious arrogance. The half dozen occasions I saw him sucking up to blue bloods in neighboring Greenwich were pathetic. Plus, his spy novels, like all his literary output, sucked out loud; dictated and barely proof read. The man could not write.

I considered him some sort of loathsome insect best avoided and consequently never took the trouble to learn much about his background.  According to Wikipedia, his first language was Spanish, and his second language was French in spite of the fact that both of his parents were English speaking Americans.  This is only plausible if the parents had minimal interaction with him and let the servants raise him.  Obviously it’s a lame explanation for his fake and absurd accent, which betrayed his obvious homosexuality.  There’s no doubt in my mind there was a parade of rentboys and kept men who were the true objects of his affections.  I consider his public persona (erudite, upper-class, conservative, devout Catholic heterosexual) to have been nothing more than a financially profitable charade.
