As in the other case where the mother has run off with her son to keep him from receiving needed medical treatment; let the kid die!  Like the other family, this mother is too stupid to look out for her son’s best interests and a reduction in her reproductive success will be a good thing for all of us in the long run.  In the past, people paid dearly for their inability or unwillingness to take proper care of their children and this had a beneficial effect on the gene pool.  Now the government steps in and rescues the children of defective people, which means we as a society are selecting for defective DNA to be crapped into the gene pool.  Again, I have a philosophical problem with allowing the government wide latitude to swoop in and take children away from their parents.
