And while father/daughter is too cosanguinous for most people's comfort, incest is just another risk factor for developmental disabilities. Other risk factors include age, occupation, disabilities, inheritable diseases. Oddly enough, no one is trying to ban old gimps with horrible genetic legacies  from fucking and making babies...because there's no long-standing tradition of disgust and retribution.

I'm hardly a Puritan, though I have a few in my family tree.  I’m very much into situation ethics.  If this 46-year-old man had been screwing an unrelated female half his age that would have been no big deal.  Selling amateur lesbian porn is also a yawn IF all the participants have given permission for it to be marketed.

Other than the possibility of afflicting children with genetic disorders, some of which may not show up until years later, and the emotional damage to the individual when they discover the truth about their origin, there are other good reasons why incest is frowned on.  IT TEARS APART THE TIES BETWEEN FAMILY MEMBERS OTHER THAN THE ONES WHO DID THE SCREWING!  This woman has two siblings from her parents’ marriage.  Imagine how they feel, and if they take different sides their relationships with each other will be damaged or destroyed.  This is why sex between family members or with current/former partners of family members is considered taboo.

As much as I believe all "pastors" should be hung it is hard to argue against even religious codification of social mores to prevent societal meltdown.  A little sense of dignity & shame is good for everyone, for example: Everyone knows their parents have sex but no one wants to know that mom likes it up the ass and has a collection of semi-kinky toys.
